with ET15 God help your scrub radius! In fact, having written the laws of physics, even He can't. Are you nuts?

ET15?

No mate, not nuts.. I have owned the car for 3 days so this is how she is, I've not created the situation. I could reduce the spacers to 15mm and the wheels will just clear the front calipers. Not knowing the geometry of the S6, what will the effect be on the handling of the car be at ET15 or am I misreading your post?

Hmm, may be I need to swap out the wheels altogether..?

Incidentally, the outer edges of the tyres are 10mm inside the wheel arches..

If the Scirocco wheels are et35, run some 245 40 zr18 and you should clear. That's the same size I've got on my et35 wheels.

Really? On what basis do you offer such a valuable comment? The wheels were on the car when I bought it, increasing the tyre diameter by an inch is your definition of me 'pimping my ride' yeah?

Thanks mate.. The problem is with the design of the Scirroco wheels, they'll hit the calipers if I take off the spacers so I either need to lose these wheels or live with the awful 'scrub radius'..

You will find that the car probably drives and handles a great deal better and your tires wear better without the spacers. That suspension is very refined, and putting the wheels an inch further out can produce some unwanted feedback and behavior. I was thinking caster jacking, but scrub is also a concern.

Do you really need 20mm of additional room behind the spokes? The RS6 has ET28 wheels so obviously there is some tolerance (the equivalent spacers would be 7mm thick), though its suspension is lower and the dampers are linked, so it may be designed for those offsets.
