Just picked up my '02 White/Silver S6 and it felt like the seats were a little sloppy. Turns out the sport seat of the S6 are 1/2" wider then the seats of my '00 S4. I can only conclude that the ave. S6 driver is larger then the ave. S4 driver. I better start eating!
Overall, both are GREAT cars. But, they are very different cars. S6 engine sounds wonderful and the S4 is a silent giant. I am still getting used to the auto gear box and the sport mode is welcome addition. The interior of the S6 is much nicer but the S4 is a little more cozy. I love the memory seats in the S6 which was a carless oversite on my S4.
I will miss the S4 when it is sold but the S6 is the only car that could "replace" it. The BMW 540i wagon had a horrible interior but drove better and the Merc. E320 was nice but not very sporty. The S6 really fit the bill. I trying to convice my wife to get a plate the reads "bbywgn" or "mommbl" as we now need a little more room then the S4 can provide.

and alcantara inserts for $47900 on a private sale. I thought I got a good deal. Seems like it was low end of market value. The only one I saw cheaper was on in MN for $46,800 with around the same miles on Autotrader.
