S6 owners: can you confirm presence of servotronic controller (aka relay 605, 628, etc)??
When I drove the S6, the steering felt perfect. My A6 4.2 feels a bit overboosted. But, when I pull the controller (labeled 605 in my 2001 4.2), steering is stiffer, too stiff (perhaps moreso in the 4.2 than other A6s due to 255mm tires).
So, I suspect that the S6 does in fact have a controller, although this may depend on which country you are in. Can anyone confirm the presence of this controller in an S6? I'd like to order one.
Even better, can you provide the numbers written on it:
* 3 digit number such as 605, 628, etc, written or stuck on the end
* Alphanumeric code molded into the box on the end, above "made if philippines".
* On the side sticker, a number sequence under "Servotronic".
* On the side sticker, an alphanumeric sequence under the audi rings.
* ON the side sticker, under the bar code, an alphanumeric sequence and a date code.
I'll post what TMBlue and I learned today soon. If things work out, we may be able to select a controller to suit your desire for steering stiffness/boost.
It may be possible to see the relay through the fuse panel if you know what to look for. Better is to remove the left screw under fuse panel and two lower screws that hold the lower dash panel (the one below the steering wheel), and then reach in and pull it out.

Hmm, thanks.... I'll ask parts dept about getting one...
The better steering in the S6 may owe to something else, such as possibly a different rack, or different ratio of wheel rotation to steering angle (what is that called?), or a different servotronic system itself. Not to mention chassis stiffness and firmer, more damped suspension.
Did a nice job. If AoA imported the sedan, I'd be seriously envious.
I'll see what I can find out about the parts differences.
I'll post pictures of the inside of my 608 control module soon.
