Hi,
Those of you that have replaced the tires, have you noticed any increased handling abilities or other positive traits? My tires seem to be wearing quickly (almost 13k on them now), and I think they need to be rotated- has anyone else done this with this amount of mileage? I was never that happy with the tires to begin with, and am considering purchasing another set anyway. Any insights are appreciated! Thanks,
Darren

....and have gotten 45000 on a set of tires on my 86 XJS-V12.
On the other hand, my dad went through a set of tires on his 86 XJ12 Jag at about 20000 because he didn't rotate/align. The next set lasted him 50000 (with frequent rotation).
On the other hand, my wife got 80000 on a set of no-names on her Accord without any rotation or alignments - we'll see what she gets on her new Michelins......

actually they could have gone a little longer, not much, but after 6 plugged flats amongst the 4 tires, I decided sooner would be better.

I have the Bridgestone S-03's and I am very happy with them as are almost everyone else I've spoken to that has them. There are other alternatives though. Go to the Tires forum and scroll through the posts. There are a lot of choices and a lot of opinions.
You can also call Eddie at Tirerack and describe what you are looking for. He is real helpful and Tirerack has great prices on most of the popular tires. He posts in the Tires forum almost everyday.

after that I thought that although far from perfect, the ContiSport were not that bad after all...
With the Dunlop the S6 had some understeer and was sliding a lot, mostly neutral with a bit of understeering. The Conti have definitely more grip, although they are not as comfortable as the Dunlop's.
With the Dunlop's the S6 felt a bit woobly as well, in some (very little) way they sort of remind me of my ex-A6 2.8Q Avant, which also happened to have Dunlop's.
Be it as it may, from reports in this forum it seems the Bridgestone SO 3's are the way to go...

my S6 to 18" Ronal R-38s. To be a little different I went with Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, rather than the widely admired S-O3s.
Of course I think they look much better (fill out the wheel arches), but I don't have enough miles on them to judge their handling characteristics.
What I am impressed with is that the ride quality is still very good.
