Default Seat Memory Module (again)

So I just picked up an 01 A6 4.2 w/ only 38k on the clock. I like it very much so far, but the drivers side seat memory is dead. No lights in the switch, I've pulled the switch and the pins are perfectly clean. I'm looking for some instruction to diagnose w/ my vag-com - if the control module is dead how can I tell? Are there separate controls for driver's and passenger's seats? The pass seat works and I'd rather at least swap the dead side.

Thanks in advance.

Now the 01 S4 is for sale to pay for the A6 - 55k and an Abt chip.

Default Yes they are separate... in VAG they show up as separate modules..

Not sure where they are located etc.. Hopefully they are not enclosed in the same box making it difficult to swap.. Ask the folks with the Bentley for a Diagram..of location.. etc

Default Re: Seat Memory Module (again)

I have a defective drivers side and seat will not recline ... Vag says short in driver seat back. I pulled the seat memory unit out which is located under the drivers seat behind the seat control and it look ok. They are $300- 400 to replace and probably not interchangeable with passengers side since drivers memory also controls outside mirror positions. Check local junk yard for a seat(same model and year) and get the unit out.. Good luck

Default I can see no codes in 36-Driver's seat, but no connection to 66 - seat/mirror adj

Does that point to the controller? not sure what's what here. Although the 36 controller is listed as 'Sitzmemory R1 F 0101" - 4B0 959 760 B
