See if you can spot the error in the latest Audi Press release, and we wonder why they can't get the
weight distribution anywhere near in line, apparently numbers are not there strong suit.
Audi Reports August Sales Increase
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., September 3, 2003 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported August sales of 8,281, representing an increase of 7.4% when compared to
August 2002 sales of 7,707.
Strong sales of the all-new A8 L, combined with the success of the A4 Cabriolet, contributed to August 2003 being the best August in Audi's history.
For the year, the German luxury carmaker is ahead of last year's pace. Audi's year-to-date sales are 57,343 versus 2002 sales of 57,707.

Could they mean that year to date sales are already ahead of total 2002 sales? If so, they
could spell it out more clearly. In fact, a good PR firm would be out spreading the word.

It is difficult to spell out what isn't true:
Audi's year-to-date sales are 57,343 versus 2002 sales of 57,707. I read that to be down 364 vehicles from 2002, unless of course 343 is more than 707!
From the July press release: For the year, the Germany luxury carmaker is just slightly behind last year's pace. Audi's year-to-date sales are now 49,062 versus 2002 sales of 49,363.

2003 isn't quite over yet. That's why the artical is true.
I agree it could have been spelt out better.
(ie... it is down 364 vehicles from last year. But right now it is September. By December 31st [hell, by the time you read this message] AoA would have sold WAYMORE than 364 more vehicles. Making this year more than last year) <---- Just in case you still didn't get it.
