Seeking advice/experience on replacing power steering pressure hose

Car is a 99 A6 2.8Q and it looks like my power steering pressure house has developed a pretty serious leak. It appears to be coming from item #7 in the pic. This is the hose going to the rack and connected to the hose along the intake manifold (from the ps pump).
Wondering how difficult this is going to be to remove. I am guessing the connection at the rack is going to be difficult to access. Anyone have any advice or experience replacing this hose?

No not a rust problem. It is really just accessing the banjo connection at the rack that might be a problem. The hose runs behind the engine block and the steering rack is typical Audi. Its buried between the transmission bell housing and the firewall. I think the easiest access is through the wheel wells. I am just hoping there will be enough room to get to the banjo fitting at the rack without having to remove the rack.

you should be able to reach the banjo from under the dash. remove the rubber boot and go thru the firewall, their is just enough room to get a box end wrench on it to get it loose. I don't recall which one is which but one line needs to come off before the other so if you lucky maybe your bad line.
once it is loose you should be able to reach the bolt with your hand thur the drivers fender well.
it took me 2.5 hrs to replace my rack so worst case pull the rack and figure 3-3.5 hrs. I never replaced just the hose but supposedly it will come out.
I found loosening the rack sometimes helps by moving the rack to just the right position to take the pressure off the bolt so they turn easily.

Thanks for the info. Never thought about going through the firewall. I will give it a try. I am hoping that once its loose I can reach in through the wheel well and get it disconnected.
On a side note, I found a local hydraulics shop that said they can r/r the hose for $30. I might give this a go considering a new hose is $260 from online sources.

How did this work out for you? I have the same problem on my 95. It is gushing out at the same place as yours.
Were you able to have the shop make a new hose? I was going to try that too.
Please let me know. This is my first Audi. I am a GM guy and can work on those without much problems but an Audi is a whole new monster for me.
