Default Seeking Info: if you have a 2000-2004 A6 2.7T w/the "1BE" factory sport suspension,

what does your options code sticker say for front & rear weight classes, respectively? (i.e. 0JL front, 0YQ rear) Trying to do some research here as there's a discrepancy with actual weight ranges for 1BA/BH rear suspension & 1BE rear for the same "weight class". Front should say "0Jx" and rear "0Yx" (where x=a letter between A-Z). Thanks!

Default Hope this helps.

The 1BE build code indicates sports suspension/shock absorption. Additional build codes for model years '01 - '04 are 1BA, 1BH and 1BP. BA and BH codes indicate "standard suspension" and BP indicates "suspension for rough road design."

The third digit in the 0Jx (front) and 0Yx (rear) build codes will indicate weight class. The third digit axle codes for model year '01 - '04 are A - Z (excluding the letters "I" and "O") for the front with A = weight range 1, B = weight range 2, etc. The third digit for the rears are A = weight range 1 through K = weight range 10 (excluding the letter "I") and M = weight range 11 though Y = weight range 22 (excluding the letter "O"). OYL is weight range 23.

For your particular car, you obviously have the 1BE build code with OJL weight class 10 up front and OYQ weight range 14 for the rear.

If you're planning on replacing your suspension with OEM, you can also look at the color codes on your springs. In your case, your front springs should have 1 brown and 2 violet markings or part number 8D0411105FK and your rear springs should have 3 brown markings or part number 4B0511115R. Your front shocks are most likely red and have a pink marking or part number 4B0412031CB and your rear shocks will have no marking or part number 4B05513031Q.

Default Out of curiosity, what front/rear codes does your car have? Mine actually

was 0JM/0YS 1BH & now installed like codes w/the sports running gear but rear sits almost 1" higher now. From what I've heard over in Passat world, the actual weight range (in #'s) of the sport springs is higher than the same designation for the 1BA/1BH, and when folks there switched to the sport suspension, they went 1 or 2 weight class springs lower to get the car to sit level.

Default I have have the 1BE build code with OJL and OYQ.

My guess is that you don't have the correct springs. Double check your part numbers/color codes.

Default For now.......<edit> sport suspension is fine for my tastes, but I would like a little less..

gapina, so I have considered different lowering options. PSS9's would be great but rather $$ for a car that will never(?) see the track.
