Yes, that's true, but since it's a loaner I'm granma'ing it. BTW, I just discovered the dang thing has a stop/start function...no owner's manual and the dealer didn't mention it, but there's a switch on the dash, looks like an A with a circle with a arrow on it. Push it and the symbol lights up, apparently it defeats the start/stop function because when I pushed it and turned off the light, the dang car died at a stop light. Never occurred to me it would start by itself if I let up on the brake pedal so I ended up starting it with the push button starter after putting it in P...wouldn't start in neutral or drive even with my foot on the brake pedal. Quite irritating.
Start/stop not exactly unobtrusive, but I guess you get used to it. Seems to be a coaxial BF starter, no ring ding of starter drive. Too bad there isn't some type of regenerative braking using that electric motor as well.
Just something more to go wrong.
I looked up the EPA mileage on a 2002 A6 2.7T and it appears highway mileage is 24...I would think a careful driver could beat that under some circumstances.

Start/stop technology makes sense only on manual cars in my opinion. When we rented Opel Insignia in Spain this past summer, it came with it. It was also a diesel engine. For the first 2 days i didnt even realize it had the start stop tech. The car would seemlessly restart when i pushed in the clutch. With auto transmissions, there isn't that much time when you release the brake pedal.

If you notice the specifics of my post, you'll see that I said I "guessed" it to be about that. I don't know,I haven't dynoed it. I will repeat what I've already said; APR's stage 1 is supposed to be 318. I've driven that. They also say their boost is just below 1 bar at peak. I am running 1.3 with no problems. I've driven the apr tune, and I can tell you this tune will absolutely, without a doubt, walk all over that tune. Call it what you want. I love the tune.

Interesting...I've not driven a start/stop on a manual car. It seems to me more complicated on when to stop the engine than on an automatic but it's good that you didn't notice it much on the diesel manual.
FWIW, the Audi start/stop on the new A6 is no unobtrusive...you do notice the start vibration.

have any proof that 350 is not possible? what experience do YOU have with nefmoto to call that number out? seriously may tunes are giving people 310-320 hp from Revo, APR, unitronics , etc etc... why couldnt a nefmoto guy eek out 30 more hp with a more agressive tune?
......?

ftr, dash readout claims 26+ on my car, highway. Realistically, I see 22-23 mixed driving, and I do like to drive fast.
I'm not sure how closely the dash report correlates with reality :P

Why not just calculate mileage the old fashioned way by filling tank, running the car to 1/2 to 1/4 full and then refill? I run it to less than that and had it down to blinking fuel light once which I know is not adviseable, but I do.
Reading the dash mpg estimate is not reliable as it changes dramatically with driving style, as you all know. I presume the ecu also learns each individual's driving style. In my case, when I fill up, the initial stated miles per tank is dispalyed as "400" which calculates to 22 pmg for an 18 gal tank). Less than 30 miles later, it will show my miles travelled and miles remaining will total a little less than 400 (maybe 380). By the time I am ready to refill, total miles travelled are perhaps 320-350 (or 17-19 mpg).
Have not taken a highway trip in a while so I expect that would increase mpg noticeably. 26mpg? That would be nice, but I think for my driving style, 22 is more likely. My car is 100% stock, no mods whatsoever.

I have an app that I use every now and then to check my mileage at fill up, but haven't done it in a while (LAZY). I have a roughly 70 mile drive one-way and average about 22-22.6 MPG driving 50-65MPH. Which puts me back at the pump about every 3 - 3.5 days.
