On my screen is is nested directly below a post in which AUJ says:
" Not being able to support your argument when confronted with facts from the manufacterer of your oil...."
So i went back and quoted his own post with the letter from that manufacturer (Shell). It does not jive with his criticism.
is it somewhere else on yours?

Reviving this thread b/c I need to switch oils and it pissed me off that (even though it was 6 months ago) no one bothered to notice that the 'Shell reply' was in regards to a completely different oil. Rotella T is NOT Rotella T6. T6 is API SM rated and has a different profile.
This post ranks well in Google, so people deserve to read the correct information.

Since using M1 5w-40 from the dealer by '03 A4 3.0 is burning an awful lot more oil. 70k miles and it didn't seem to burn more than 1/4 qt every 5k miles until I let the dealer do an oil change. 10k mi later and due for my 3rd oil change. For the last 10k miles I've had to add a 1/4 qt every 2,000mi or so. It's official
I use Rotella 5w-40 in my Rodeo 4x4 beach truck with 220k miles on it
I'm going to try it out in the Audi. Valvoline PB's HTHS is *marginally* higher, but I like the fact that I can pull 30mpg out of my v6 on road trips, so I'm not really concerned with that.

T6 is dual rated for SM as well as CJ-4, CJ-4+ etc,
Regular T is dual rated as well
in fact, all of the rotella oils are dual rated for diesel as well as gasoline use, nothing ive read stated they are different formulas aside from synthetic vs non synthetic.
Regular shell rotella tripple protection: http://www.shell.com/home/content/ro...ducts/tpl_pro/
Rotella T6 full syn:
