Default Shift Points & Techniques

Hello folks,
I was STFA for something else and stumbled on some shift posts which got me thinking...what is the optimal shifting technique and shift points for both maximum acceleration and just normal driving.

Do you juice it a bit with the clutch disengaged to keep the RPMs up? At what RPM to you go to second at?

Thanks

Default Keep the reves between 2,500 and 3,000 for normal driving....shift at 7,200 for fast driving

the sweet spot for tourque is between 2,ooo and 4,oooo rpms...

That answers the "when" but how about the how?

Do you let the RPMs drop when the clutch is out and rely on the syncronizer of do you give some gas during the shift to prop up the RPMs? In the STFA I saw that there was some discussion that seemed to indiate that shifitng a Turbo charged Audi with the 6M is different than it might be in another (normal) car.

Default i always try to rev match... i dont see why you wouldnt want to

just blip the throtle when you engage the clutch for a dowshift. Or for upshifts i just hold the pedal still (while clutching with the left foot) instead of letting off and having the revs drop.

is that the *right* way?? who knows, just my .02
