Shifted metal trim around driver door - theft attempt?

I opened the door this morning, heard the clicking sound. After closely examining the door, noticed that the chrome trim on top of the driver door is shifted approx 1 cm towards the back of the car, so when I opened it, it caught on the same trim on top of the back door....
It kinda got me worried: did someone take it off in order to open my car? Or is it something natural that can happen. If first, then it was done professionally - no visible scratches.
Any opinions?
Thanks
