On two occasions my A6 (Avant,2.8 Tip. w/19,800 miles), has hung up in a lower gear. Both occurred shortly after starting out with the engine/trans. not warmed up. The last time it happened I noticed the increased engine noise and looked at the tach and noted it was up in the 3900 RPM range and climbing. It then shifted and did not repeat. Now I was not "getting on it" at the time as I was traversing an alley and had a stop to make 1/4 block away. No warning lights are appearing and have not noticed any other symptoms. Any thoughts or have others noted this problem? TIA for any help. Bill

Usually the first cold-morning 1-2 and 2-3 shifts down my street are very late. Not 3900 RPM, although I suppose it could go that high if I was going faster.
