Should I buy a used 2001 A6 or A8?
Hi all,
I'm an experienced Audi owner and maintainer. My 98 A4 1.8TQm is just about ready for its second timing belt job and I was thinking about replacing it with either a 2001/2002 A6 2.7TQm or an 2001/2002 A8.
Either is going to cost me the same give or take. A real manual transmission and a turbo to chip have me eyeing the A6 turbo; I guess I'm asking if the extra lux of the A8 is worth the trade.
Thanks,
aa

If you like what you've got, go for the A62.7 with the manual. You'll get a better version ...
of your car. Bigger, faster, more toys etc. The A8's nice, but it's a different car altogether.

Should I eat an apple for lunch or an orange?
You really are comparing two totally different cars.
The A8 will be big, comfy and slow. The A6 will be big enough, comfy, sporty, and quick. If you like to drive fast, then get the A6.
How often do you carry passengers in the rear? The "extra lux" of the A8 may or may not be needed.
