Why do you insist on using "driver's" side?
Is your SUV made by VAG? You got a Q7 or Touareg? There's no naming standard and people do drive on different sides of the road around the world.
Do a search, check Bentley, and read how everyone else here says it's the other way around.
Actually, I checked Bentley for you.

.
Who's on first?
I figured I'd dredge up this necrothread in case anyone took the pains of searching, and landed on it...
.
It doesn't matter which side is the "driver's side". Bank one is on the right, whatever seat you are sitting in.

I had the same question and frankly found nearly every answer on line to be dubious. Driver side, passenger side, Left or right, but looking at the car or sitting in the car - too much ambiguity. I finally found a definition that is rock solid. Find a diagram that outlines the firing order of your engine. Bank 1 is the side of the motor that cylinder 1 is on. Bank 2 is the side of the motor that cylinder 2 is on.
For my car - a 2000 A6 4.2 USA left hand drive - cylinder 1 is in the front right (yes, while sitting in the car) side. So Bank 1 is on the passenger side of my car in the USA.
Hope this helps - Aaron
