Sigh. Starting over. The trials of self-painting a spoiler...
Well, I was full of optimism & joy at the prospect of painting my M5 lip spoiler for my black 2.7t...
Went to Pep Boys, got a can of Plastikote "universal" import black, and a can of clearcoat. Black is black right?
Wrong. After going through the multicoat deal in my garage & letting it all dry overnight, I brought it out to the car. What looks the perfect black on it's own, looks browny-black up against the car. Ohh S**t!
Back to a different car accessories place. They also only have Plastikote. This time I tried a different spray-line for the black. Back to the house. Wet-sanded the spoiler back down (not quite to the primer). Respray (just one coat this time). Result: exact same color, exact same mismatch. B%$^$&***@@!
So off to find my can of lacquer-thinner to take all the paint back off. Right back to square one.
Went to paintworldinc.com last night and ordered a can of "guaranteed to match" Audi black paint. Wish me luck!

Why Give Yourself The Headaches?...
A body shop will do this for about what you have paid in paint and time (frustration). Maybe a bit more.
The body shop just punches the AUDI color-code into their computers and an exact match is made. The body shop probly uses better materials as well.

sounds like me and my headlight washer covers
The RS6 front end has different ones so I thought I would reshape mine to fit. After trying to get the paint to match four different times, I've given up.

Get the AUDI color-code for your vehicle...
it is always stamped in one or more places on the vehicle.
the body shop will use that to get an exact match. if you are definately gonna DIY, then call the paint manufacturer and ask if their product matches the color-code you sepcify.

I just got back from meeting with Rojo's Collision... Jimmy Jr was talking about this exact problem.
That the Audi black is very hard to match, and other blacks look brownish in comparison.
They are trying to match the Nemo Blue of my car to paint an M5 spoiler for me too.

AUDI color-code ...
Your bodyshop should be able to use the AUDI color-code and punch it into their computers to decipher an exact match for the paint mix.
That is what my bodyshop did and matched the paint exactly.
The AUDI color-code is stamped in one or more placed on the vehicle.
