got a call from a Mercedes dealership in town wanting to know if i was interested in anything. note, this is not an easy group to negotiate with, and i've never been able to land a deal with them (i bought my MB C230 from a dealer out of town the next day after try to negotiate with them).
i stopped in to these guys going on 3 years ago asking about cars, and they dug me out of a list. sales guy wasn't the one i talked to but asked what i was driving now, and all i heard was uh.......
bad salesman--he should have asked if i'd consider something else.
maybe some deals lurking out there guys.

covering 7 cars, 3 purchased from the same Audi dealership, NOT ONE CONTACT from an Audi brand specialist post-sale. But after I bought my S6 (used) off a local Cadillac dealer, I got three cards/mailings from the salesman over the next 12 months. Dealership closed shortly afterwards, but I just got another card from him announcing his new location (a different Cadillac dealer).
I'm not likely to shop for Caddies...but if someone ever asks, guess who I'd send them to.

...real straight forward, above and beyond just closing the deal.
Hooked me up with a nice open-end discount in the Parts department too.
I've put that to use already.
I'm feeling okay, today, that is...thanks for asking.
You didn't call me back over the weekend...wanted to know how it went for you at the doc...choot me an email.

i've swapped out cars several times, and if i want to make a deal, i do it. my old audi dealer didn't understand how to propose a deal--if i want out of a lease, give me the number and i'll make the decision. i wanted out of my 03 many times and wanted a MT allroad--sales guy always said they couldn't do it....what?
a lease can always be broken, and it's up to the customer if they want to do it.
my bmw dealer has been great. at least my sales guy has the brain to propose a number and we work things out. i traded in 3 cars to my bmw dealer, and they know that if it's feasable, i'll most likely make a deal.
this mercedes guy wasn't smart enough to try a pitch. sheesh, if you're going to make the cold call, try and work a deal.
