Default Skid Plate Bolts?

I was getting my oil service and the mechanic noticed that 90% of my skid plate bolts are missing.

Then, I called Audi parts store to see how much they cost, and they quoted $4.99 per each!! How many do I need in order to hold the skid plate tightly?

Thanks for your help.

Default What model/year do you have?? A little info would help!

And, when you say "skid plate" are you referring to the "belly pan" that covers the bottom of the engine compartment?

Default Sorry... here is more information.. please help..

Yes, it is the belly pan (it's the plate that covers the bottom of the engine compartment).

I have 99 A6 Avant.

Thanks for your help...

On my '00 2.7T I believe there are 9 of those "bolts", IIRC. Don't know if Avant is same??

Thanks. Do you need all 9 of them to hold it properly? Or less is fine?

Default You can live without some of them. Use your judgment.

Like if you were missing one in a wheel well, it probably would not matter, but I would want all the ones along the rear edge. Without that secured, it tends to sag and could get hung up.

It's not really a skid plate.. That thing is there for noise/aero/cooling, not bash protection..

They're pretty cheap, I bought a handful once for the A8, it was $10 or $15 for a pile of them.
