Default Hmmm....what percentage of the 200 CDs Skip? If it's a high %, pick a few that currently skip.....

and re-record them as MP3....see if the problem ever happens again. I've got mine mounded in the CD Changer slot in the trunk with no problems.

Besides checking the back space to ensure the cable is not bound, is the DMS cartridge in contact with the removeable panel for the Jack/CD Changer area? When I was installing mine, I had to find a mounting area that did not make contact on either side.

Default Hmmmm...There's "something" in your PP that says your car is a 2000. Is the 2000 pre-cabled?

I know the 2001 was precabled....but I don't know about the 2000.

If a new cable had to be run to the back, could it be the incorrect cable, or be defective? Also, are you sure you have the Audi PhatNoise and not the VW version?

Default Yes, my car is a '00. It came with the trunk mounted cd-changer which broke and I replaced with the

Phatbox. And yes the PB I bought is an Audi one (it had an Audi logo on the box it came in).

Default I don't currently have the cover on....

and there is more than 3 in. space between the rear connection and the quarter-panel. I have the PB installed halfway, it was a VERY tight squeeze fitting it into the CD changer bracket. Its held in very tight and level at the moment but it is not pushed in far enough to put the cover on, I'll post pics tommarrow to clarify this better. I need to figure out a way to get it pushed in a few inches further, but that thing will NOT budge (like I said a VERY tight fit). I'll try the MP3 thing as well.

Thanks for all your help!

Default I took the jack/CD Changer mounting bracket entirely out of the fender, drilled holes in it ..

to attach the Phat installation brackets, then remounted it with the Phat box installed, then put back in the jack. I've got about a quarter inch gap between the DMS and cover.

I'm assuming you're using the Phat installation brackets (about $15)

Default I didnt know you needed phat install brackets. Where can I get them?

I thought the CD changer bracket was usable for the PB too.

Also make sure it is secure; not bouncing around.

Default I don't know if you need them, but it made it easier for me to install....

The mounting brackets are L shaped brackets that attach to each side of the unit, with mounting holes on the other part of the L to mount to whatever you want to mount the PhatNoise to.

I went through my documentation and I can't find the part number for the bracket.

TeddyBgame put together these instructions...it also has various links that may be helpful...

TeddyBgame Installation instructions
