Default Slid into a curb the day after Xmas and just got the estimate $2300 and counting....

I ended up with a bent steering rack and a bad alignment. It also looks like the power steering pump and steering hub might need replacmening.

I hoped that Audi would cover some of the cost but so far nothing, so I had to file a insurance claim.

Any advice????

Default I came damned close to doing the very same thing in 3" of surprise snow on Christmas Eve...

Did a u-turn in fresh snow and I could not BELIEVE the damned near total absence of stopping ability courtesy of my Conti-Sport Contacts. Jeez! I didn't remember any such lack of performace last winter. And this was at VERY slow speed. Almost NO stopping power. I actually "grazed" the curb very gently fortunately suffering no ill effects. Pure luck.

Sorry about your difficulty. Really.

Default Well, I just ordered some 235/45QR17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 to put on the Pie Plates..

when I get the car back. I jest hope that the Bizzak's are all they cracked up to be when it comes to Ice traction.

Default I did that years ago in my wife's Escort and bent the frame...

no visible damage, just a bent frame...$3000! I didn't even have to stop...just slid sideways into the curb and bumped off it and kept going...but it was kinda wobbly after that...thought I had just knocked it out of alignment...I was wrong...

Default That sucks man. The only advice I have is to get a terrific shop to straighten everything out

for you. Seriously, it might even be worth paying extra if the place is real expensive and the insurance won't cover it. A repair like that, if poorly done, can ruin a car for life.

Now that I have you scared, there is no reason that a good shop will have any difficulty fixing it. Just really make sure the place is good.

Definitely ask this in the S4 forum - quite a few from Jersey. Also, try the regional forums.

I've got the Blizzak LM-22 255/40-17's and they're scary good to the point of risking overconfidence
