At and around both these speeds, I have noticed a slight whine when accelerating lightly. On the highway this last weekend I got the car to repeat the sound about 60 or 70% of the time. I believe it is a mechanical sound coming from under the car at the front left. It seems like axle whine but it is very subtle and I am not sure. Otherwise the car is seemingly "normal". I will tell the dealer when I bring it in for the gas tank sensors but I'd like some of your opinions and whether anyone else has experienced this. My car did not make this sound before.

I have a 2000 A6 2.7T.
Have noticed the same whine.
While cruising, adding some gas, the whine
is heard when the engine speed goes from about
2100 to 2300 rpm. Most drivers would never
notice. I have been able to reproduce the whine
consistently. Requires 5th gear, cruising speed, slight acceleration at 2100 rpm.

http://dmozes@aol.com</a
