Default So,,, anyone have an oil filter housing/bracket they don't need?

2001 A6 4.2

Ive had a cracked oil cooler pipe for several months now. Got the Bufkin cure-all and set to it today.

I certainly had a lot of trouble but finally got all 5 of those lame 8mm allens out. While gently trying to work the unit out of the engine bay, I noticed a couple random pieces of aluminum shrapnel drop down. Got worried and worked the unit the rest of the way out.

Low and behold, there is a giant hole and crack in the oil filter housing.

There was an alignment pin in the top-left bolt hole that I believe must have been quite stuck. I tried to be as gently as possible and never felt like I was being very foceful, but apparently I was too much for the fragile eggshell of cast-aluminum.

Anyways, I'd love to post a picture for fun but I dont have a camera. I was really hoping to get lucky and maybe one of you fellas would have a spare (fingers crossed).

Part# 077 115 405 J, or it looks like 077 115 405 M is the latest replacement

Its pretty difficult to locate the part anywhere new. I saw ECS tuning has one for over $700. Thought I'd check here first to see if I could get lucky. I'll call some auto dismantlers on Monday I suppose.

Thanks guys.

Default Oil Cooler / Alternator Bracket / Adapter Needed (Part #077 115 405 M)

I'm resurrecting this thread as I have the same issue (on my 2002 S6 Avant).

When trying to remove the broken oil cooler pipe (part #077-115-441), my shop damaged (cracked?) the adapter (077 115 405 J). I have searched high and low for a replacement and according to several distributors/dealers I called it is no longer available.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement (either 077 115 405 J or the updated version, 077 115 405 M)? Or has anyone tried to repair one?

Any pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! (I'm in Chicago).

Many thanks.
