Default What's interesting is that North America isn't their top export market any more.

Asia is. That dictates a lot about styling and engine choices. I think that big grille may be part of the plan to expand over there. The big grille look is very popular.

IMHO they need to bring some racing flash to their sedan/coupe production cars.

Sorry to say, but people are dumb. Sometimes you need to be more obvious.

Default I just wish ALMS and Grand Am racing would catch on more. They are great...

... racing series, and so much more relevant to street cars. It's absurd that it is good marketing to slap Dodge or Chevy or Ford (or Toyota) stickers on stock cars. Absurd.

Default I hear you. The trick for AoA is to try and figure out an effective and

cost effective program that will reach the greatest number of people without looking like a "me too" brand.

Default I was kidding at first, but moving the Audi HQ to Italy may be the answer!

Think about it. They already have Lamborghini, so the move might be easy. Just re-position Audi as an Italian car company. It might take some time to change the image, but new car buyers are born every day. Older folks might get scared off (thinking "Fiat"), but they're already scared off by the ghost of sudden acceleration.

Imagine the neat images and themes they could build into the advertising. Truly unique in the US market. (Of course, as you note, the US is only a part of their market.)

Default the last time the italians and germans mixed, they produced this ---------->

<img src="http://www.paganiautomobili.it/italiano/road2a.jpg">
<big><b>
And a fine job they did....heck, they had to make up for their previous mix: alliance in World War I...damn Axis powers!!

Pagani = Italian
MB V12 AMG engine = German

This has to be, in my books, the ultimate machine.

Default Yeah, but how many stimulants were required for that cooperation? ;-)

Then you had this. An excellent argument for never allowing the Italians and Japanese near one another!

<img src="http://www.ratdat.com/history/1973to1982/images/1982_n12_arna.jpg">

"N12 - April 1982
The N12 was the last to be called a Cherry although the Pulsar name lived on the the family line continued afterward with the N13, N14 etc. Only the first N12's were badged as Datsuns and all used the E series engine. The Datsun versions came as three and five door hatchbacks. The N12 went on to be produced as a Nissan in other body styles including the coupe and cabriolet known as a Pulsar EXA and a sedan version that had an extended trunk. The N12 was also produced with the flat four Alfa Romeo Alfasud engine as an Alfa Romeo Arna and by Nissan as the Nissan Cherry Europe. The N12 also became available in the high performance E15ET powered Cherry Turbo version (Pulsar ET) eventually."
