Default So let's settle this question--who is OEM for valve stem seals??

Everyone claims to be OEM--here's what I've found:

Corteco/Victor Reinz (AutohausAZ/Pelican Parts)

AutohausAZ claims they're OEM, but users on this forum have warned against Victor Reinz.

Elring (PartsQuick)

Many sources say Elring is OEM for Audi/VW. I haven't heard negative things about them on AudiWorld.

Hebmuller (ECSTuning, eGermanParts and AutoPartsWorld)

Hebmuller, for some reason, carries the part number associated with the "OEM" valve stem seals. However, I can find barely any mention of Hebmuller anywhere.

And then there are the valve stem seals from Rockville Audi, which are TEN DOLLARS EACH (300+ dollars for thirty of 'em.)

Audi probably buys from the low bidder.

Stay far far away from Victor Reinz for stem seals. They do not have a snug fit on the valves.

Default That is the reason they pinched Ignaki Lopez from GM way back when - to teach them how to beat-up

suppliers so they could get the best deal on parts. Hmmmm - yeah, that sounds smart - let's use GM tactics on VAG vehicles.

"What do you mean we're having quality issues? You don't think the quality of our parts went down after we cut the price in half, do you? Nah, couldn't be it; probably need more 6-Sigma Black Belts..."

Got the Hebmuller ones in the end. Many sites cited them as "OEM" seals.
