Default Then you don't want all seasons. All seasons will get you moving too well...

for their general lack of turning and stopping grip with a heavy car like the A6.

Default Nokian WR or the new WR G2 tires are a great all weather plus tire.

Ever since I bought my first audi with Nokian Hakkas, I've been a believer in these tires. Try their RSI for dedicated winter performance or for a tire that you can run all year round, my hands down favorite is the WR (the new WRG2 is set to replace these, but I don't have first hand experience with the new G2's yet). I've run them on my wife's old audi and will be getting a set for her new A6 Avant before the snow flies.

http://www.nokiantires.com/tyre?id=11899&group=1.01&name=Nokian+WRG2</a

Default Re: My experiences with WR ... in Northern Vermont

I've had my WR's now for almost 2 yrs (purch 12/27/06). I find them fairly noisy (noisier than the ContiExtreme's I replaced) They are great in wet/dry for traction, but in anything deeper than 2" of snow, they tend to float. The heavier the slop, the easier to float. Up North here, we get way more than that, and this year, I'll be switching to Hakka 5's I think(or whatever the current Hakkapalita dedicated winter tire is) I find the WR's just don't have deep enough trough's to push the slop out of the way. Quattro is incredible, but tires that can bite in turns with snow and ice, make you almost unstoppable (well, stoppable when you want to - and that's a good thing!). Mostly, it depends on what it's like where you drive. If you only get a little snow, then the WR's are probably ok for you.

Default 4Driver4, I'm seeing the same thing on my '96 A6 Avant. Tires only have 20,650 miles...

on them, and I'm noticing the edges wearing more than the center section. I'm also noticing that the car is now pulling slightly to the right, which it never did prior with the OEM and Michelin tires I previously had (toe-in is within spec, no suspension damage). These are my first set of Falkens that I bought based on CR's high overall rating, but they may be my last.

Default Have you tried the midwest forum to see if anyone there is

getting rid of some lightly used snows? Otherwise, a set of NEW all seasons will be OK, but after 2 years or so will not ne nearly as good.
