Default Someone please explain the logic behind the car-bra

In 15 years of living in Germany and having traveled all over Europe during that time, I have never seen one single car with a car bra on it.

Why is it that so many Americans put these hideous things on? What is it about the American mentality that makes them want to spoil the lines and the look of a car to that extent? If you think it looks too good without a car bra, then just spray some graffiti on it, or hit it with a hammer.

I just imagine these people selling the car after a few years and the front (bra-protected part) looks pristine showroom new, but the rest of the car looks faded and mildly scratched (like a few year old car should).

I really really cannot understand what makes someone do that. Clearly the fact that you can't even buy them outside of the states AFAIK means the rest of the world thinks that too.

Someone please explain it to me...

Here's one I saw in another thread and demonstrates what an eyesore a car-bra is.

Default Uh...you do realize that is an early '90's car right? There are very few people

that still use that type of car bra today. Most use 3M kits now...

Default Because if you don't use one, your car will end up looking like mine (covered in

rock chips.) When I redo my bumper, I'm going to do an 18" clear bra on the hood, a clear bra on the bumper, and a strip above the windshield.

Default I used bras on previous cars for long interstate trips. Not only does it keep the stone chips away

but it also makes the front end of the car EXTREMELY easy to wash in the summertime. Instead of thousands of dead bugs on your paint, they are all on the bra.

Of course the bra looks hideous, that's why I only used it for long interstate journeys.
