I know this topic has been beat to death, but the technology keeps changing. Recent tint jobs...how much was your AM or cell reception affected by a hybrid or full metallic tint?
My dealer just started doing Llumar ATR films. One of the biggest shops in town pushes 3M, but he told me it is non-metalic, but the label on the window said FX-HP. I have been trying to find a Huper dealer in town, but suspect I'm too cheap for that anyway. I don't listen to AM much, but the dealer told me right off that my AM reception would be horrible with ATR film.
Thanks.

Non-metallic, 50% 3M film over the 90% factory tint for net of 40% (MA limit is 35%).
No impact on radio AM/FM or cell phone. Lifetime warranty against fade or discoloration.
Local shop did a one-piece rear window, and all side windows for $250 (normally a $300 job).
Illegal in MA to have aftermarket tint on front window other than top 6".

Your cell reception will not be affected but your am reception will with the metalized films. There is a trade off though. Metalized or hybred films keep out alot more heat then the full died film and are not as color stable as the metalized products. One thing I have noticed on a lot of pics of the cars on the forum are that the installers are cutting out the 3rd brake lights. It is easy to tuck the film behind the light and get it squeeged out. Looks much better and does not take much more effort.

FM seems to be fine but I live just north of the major city broadcasting anything I listen to so not sure if anything lost over long range, but my AM is gone. I need to work on some sort of replacement antenna so I can get my sports talk back....
