Source of whirring noise under the hood is not a bad pulley it is the timing belt

I went and had the timing belt replaced, the PS pump replaced and it turns out that the sound I am hearing is the natural sound of the timing belt. They said you shouldn't worry about that whine, it is normal for the S6 thanks for screwing me first. I needed a new timing belt anyway but they had never seen an S6 before and didn't know what normal was on this car.

--a definite whirr-whine, after (dealer) replaced head gaskets and re-installed the same belt (only 15,000 miles on the belt). I complained confidently; the belt was loosened (dealer's diagnosis), and the car was returned a day later nice and quiet just like before.

I've owned the car over 3 months now and I'm still not used to it. Appears that other owners have the same thing...but it should be stuck somewhere on the car. Even my mechanic was scratching his head. I'm glad I didn't drop any $$ on the problem.
