spark plug replacement.......
bringing car in for regular service, just came to mind i hadn't replaced my plugs in almost 5 years and about 37k miles - should i be replacing them? haven't had any problems, but noticed audi recommends every 30k miles....plugs are NGK iridiums - what's everyone using these days? (i'm sure answers will be as varied as 'what's the best oil')

I believe the iridiums are rated for 50,000 miles - so it may not be absolutely necessary. If you want piece of mind, it could be done now, but I doubt it absolutely needs to be done if you're not having a problem. I'd do them for sure at 50,000 though.

Iridiums are good because they perform the same as a copper plug but last a lot longer.
Copper plugs usually perform the best but their life is short so you'll be replacing them every 3000-4000 miles.
we have Iridiums available below.
Click HERE to order or for more information.
Let me know if you have any questions.

that's a pretty good price, i might have to get a set - are those the right heat range for a stage 2+ car or does that not really matter?
on another note - not to hijack my own thread, but regarding the TRW S4 outer tie rods you carry that fit my car, do they come with all the hardware as well? i was going to replace the inners w/ the TRW ones as well, but just wanted to know whether i need to buy the hardware separately or not.
thanks

NGK BKR7Es rock in this motor. It is a copper plug, so spark is optimized by design. Run the gap at .025mm and you will find that your ignition purrs, if all else is in good running order. These plugs run under $2.00 a piece and are one stop colder. Turbo motors running higher BAR from chipping tend to benefit from a colder step down plug as well, in general.

Yeh--.025mm will give you great operation. The motor won't even start. .025 INCHES!!

3-4K life on copper plugs? Mine last minimum 30K miles and I only change them because Audi calls for a change. I noticed no difference in mileage or performance with new plugs every 30K.

Yeah, my feeler gauge does not come with that 0.025 mm setting. Thanks for the correction. You could of had a two for one special by correcting my statement of "one stop colder" to "one step colder" and saved me the self correction in this post.

Agree. Nothing worse than pulling Iridiums out and finding the tip missing, knowing the missing element (77) is down there somewhere. Kind of like finding plutonium 239 in your ground water and hoping for the best outcome over a 24,100 year half life. I guess the second example is quite a bit worse on second thought.
