Default Sport seat...just not right...

The seat back of my 2001 A6 4.2 just doesn't feel right. Hard to explain...sometimes feels like it moves forward when I stop. I feel movement on both sides when I excellerate, on corners one side or the other feels like springs not working properly. It makes noise when you move front and back against the seat back.

I have a service apptmt next week and if I can't explain it to you (all) how will I ever explain it to the service writer.

Anybody experience a similar problem?

Thanks, Bill

Default You prabably have a loose seat frame. semi-common issue with 2000/2001

mkae sure you point ti out, and do not let the service advisor leave the car until he recognizes that there is a problem.

Several folks have has to fight pretty hard to get it fixed.

It is a safety issue, and needs to be presented as such, even if it is in the form of a certified letter, to the dealer

When you say loose seat frame, I'm not sure what you mean. The seat base itself does not move. All the strange feelings eminate from the seat back.

Is the seat frame in the seat back?

When I examine the middle of the seat back I can pull it away from the seat and see the springs behind it. Is this normal?

It's starting to sound like the seat back is possessed.

Thanks, Bill

Default Put a post on the S4 forum. It was a common problem. I had it on my 2000 S4.

Two visits to the dealer, and it was never fixed right. The dealer took the seat out, and tightened everything, which helped for a day, but then problems returned.
I ended up trading the car in, so I don't have answers for you, but I know that many people were reporting the problem on the S4 forum back in 2000 and 2001. It was sometimes referred to as "seat rocking".

And I'm a small guy 185lbs, so it's not me, just crap parts!!
