Are the standard A6's more reliable than the allroad?
Looking for a wagon for my wife, probably 2003-2005.
Drove a 2005 allroad 4.2. Awesome, but has 93,000 miles.
Have heard plenty problems with the allroads, especially the 2.7T engine, as well as the transmission, TC, suspension levelling air bags.
Would you consider the A6 Avant wagon generally more reliable?
I'm thinking the naturally aspirated 3.0. (For myself, I have a 2004 A6 3.0 with 98k and its excellent). Seems there are more of the Avants in 3.0 available than 4.2 allroads. In fact, I just saw an ad for a 2003 Avant 3.0 with 58,000 miles at a local dealership at a decent price.
The other option we are considering (mostly for reliability) is 2005 Subaru Outback XT (ducking).
Thoughts, please?
