I need to top off the steering fluid for my '99 a6 wagon. The book says that I should use Audi Fluid #: G 002 000 and the resevoire says right on it "Use Only Mineral Hyadraulic Fluid". What does this mean, and can I just use a standard steering fluid?
Thanks in advance for any help. This forum has been an awesome resource since I picked up my vehicle last year.

G 002 000 is also known as "Pentosin". It's OK to use it but make sure you are using the right kind for your vehicle make. There's Pentosin 7 or Pentosin 11 and mixing the two is not recommended. If you have an older vehicle, the fluid you will need is most likely with Pentosin 7, and newer model cars are more than likely using Pentosin 11.
G 002 000 is equivalent to Pentosin 11, and should have a greenish tint to it. Luckily the local NAPA carried the right Pentosin I needed.
DO NOT USE REGULAR STEERING FLUID or you could ruin your entire steering system.
