Steering Wheel Vibration
Question:
Getting steering wheel vibration around 50mph and above. Would that be a tire balancing issue?
or is would it be related to the control arms I hear so much about?
Model 99 A6 quattro 73,000 miles
(no major repairs)
Thanks.

Probably a wheel balancing issue.
Check out the reference to "Hunter Roadforce Balancing" in Stoney's Links (see my sig for the URL). This advance wheel balancing system has effectively cured many people's vibration issues.
The control arm issue tends to exhibit itself through clunking noises.

Most likely a tire balancing.......but
IF you hear a 'thunk' as you are moving slowly with the wheel turned, say backing out of a driveway etc. then it could be a tie rod end or control arm etc.....usually wheel vibration picks up and is noticeable around 50mph or so when it's the balance of the tires, IMO...
