Default Still trouble with seats. Advice wanted.

I posted a few days ago looking for standard seats. im_cecil pointed out that I have standard seats. The AR seats look a lot like the standard seats. The pleats run the other way but the size of the bolsters look the same.
https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/452465.phtml

Questions. Are the AR seats really exactly the same as the standard? (You can not depress the bolster on my AR seats with the flat of your hand) (Very stiff)

If they are the same, I still need to buy a used standard seat. I need to take one apart and do some cutting and experiments.
I like everything else about the car so it is worth fixing the seat.

Thanks for the help

Frank

I have standard seats in my 01 A6 2.7t. I am working on getting a set of sport seats. If I get those, I'll sell you my standard seats.

Default I would suggest that you go to a shop that specializes in automotive upholstery

and they can advise you on how to modify your seat to your desires. It would be too expensive to buy an OEM seat simply to experiment, because the seats come with so many extra things that are not relevant to your experiment, like the side airbags, motors, seat heaters, etc.

I think taht you are seeking some modification to the cushion and bolsters, changes that would also need to be reflected in the seat covers. Talk to the experts. I do not think you will find help here, since most of the seat mods on the forum deal with seat swaps for more sporty seats with bigger bolsters...the opposite direction you need to go.

Default If your pleats are Vertical and your car is a MY 2000 or eariler, those seats sux! On my 98 I had

the vertical pleats and could never get comfortable. I actually put a sheepskin seatcover on it Good luck with your quest.
