So, the STi driving experiance is less visceral than the (A6/S4/etc) driving experiance? I think of Audis as refined, not "crude or elemental".
I'm not sure I understand the purpose of your post. Subaru and Audi make cars with different traits. Some of those traits can appeal to the <i>same buyer</i>, different though they may be. Ok... so we have choices. Anything wrong with that?
Here's what visceral means.
---------------------------------------------------
Main Entry: vis·cer·al
Pronunciation: 'vi-s&-r&l, 'vis-r&l
Function: adjective
Date: 1575
1 : felt in or as if in the viscera : DEEP <visceral conviction>
2 : not intellectual : INSTINCTIVE, UNREASONING <visceral drives>
3 : dealing with crude or elemental emotions : EARTHY <a visceral novel>
4 : of, relating to, or located on or among the viscera : SPLANCHNIC
- vis·cer·al·ly /-r&-lE/ adverb

I'm sure Audi saw they were losing money on the deal and that's why they upped the change intervals to 10k miles instead of 5 or 8k. It's not like they're using $60 a quart Ferrari oil anyways to make free oil changes seem like a big deal. They just use cheap **** .49qt 5w30. As for all those maint checks they perform, any boob can do those things for free, hell they probably don't even check half of those things that they say they do.. or they do it very quickly. I've heard it on the VW forum lots of times. How hard is it to check your brake pad thickness!? Come on..
Audi should just do away with "free" maint. I personally would like to see how much of a price drop that would give to the MSRP.

B - alignments are included.
C - Brakes WERE included up until the 2004 models
D - air filters, pollen filters, etc..aren't free.
It also pretty much ensures people are going to maintain these cars better if it's free.

.. it is a POS if it doesn't work good, all the time, for a long happy life. My Corrado, A4 and A6 were two out of three POS- because they were unreliable, and the dealer who serviced my last one turned to hell when they got busy.. (among other things......

Agreed.
My brother has a 1990 Legacy wagon, a real workhorse, durable and dependable. I think it's got more than 175K miles on it. He's a real outdoorsy person, hauls his bikes, surfboards, home improvement stuff around in it. I've also driven a Forester wagon on a recent trip to Oregon.
At the same time, he did encourage me to get the Audi. It's never going to be as bulletproof in terms of the maintenance/service as, let's say, an Accord, but it's got the pizzazz, ride, interior appointments and other benefits. I wanted a decent car to take clients around and it fit my needs.
Apples vs. Oranges comparison. Both are good vehicles for different needs and tastes.

Also, was your A4 a 1.8T, 2.8 (if pre 2002) or 3.0 if post 2001). And let me guess, your A4 and A6 were the POS and you loved your Corrado, right.
