Default I used BBA Remanufacturing a month ago. Happy with the results

$85 seems to good to be true at 1/4 the cost. Someone give them a shot.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/edit.phtml</a

Default my understanding is that the display doesn't go bad- it's the

wires that fail, triggering incorrect displays. I suspect this to be the case with my display, as sometimes I have lines through the display, other times not. Sometimes I have pixels drop out, other times not. So, I'm assuming that the display itself is OK, but that the connection is failing at times. I could be way off-base, though. Anyone know for sure??

Default probably multiple issues

Intermittant is not my problem -- dead lines. I know there was a guy that did them for Saabs, so figured somebody would have stepped in with Audis. I think that early era of these type displays was problem in various cars.

Nice job on assistance here guys! Thanks - I'm off to check out your suggestions.

Default How great would it be

if somebody could also put a boost gauge into the panel where the (stupid, redundant) C <--> H temp gauge resides!

sort of like the old Saab 900T boost gauge? That was great. I'd add it and keep all the others.

Default correct. liquid crystal has a very long life span and is not typically this failure prone...

you might lose a handful of individual pixels on a display over time. but the way my screen is failing with several rows of pixels not displaying (like most owners are experiencing) suggests some kind of a connection issue.

Default Re: Suggestions for pixel problem?

Modulemaster now has the pixel repair with lifetime warranty. Premium supertist LCD panels from the original OEM manufacturer. Exact same driver IC; so expect nothing less than the high contrast screen you are familiar with.

Very reasonable price of $120.00 for repair with lifetime guarantee on our panels. We will begin taking orders on Monday.

http://www.modulemaster.com</a

Default Re: Website shows $85 for cluster repair... Good to know!!!

Originally tried to rebuild these using an import LCD with a rebuild of $85.00. But the contrast ratio was not as good and pixel streaking. It had to be OEM or better.

So opted to go full OEM source with a superior ribbon cable made from silver. Final parts cost was higher, but you will get the best display. It is exactly the same performance as original but now with a lifetime guarantee. New price is $120.00.

Wanted to offer as a kit like our other LCD solutions, but unfortunately requires specialized equipment for installation.

Default ModuleMaster Audi Pixel Repair

Hi,

The $85.00 repair was using a high quality Asian supplied "clone" LCD. The LCD's are built very well, perhaps even exceeding original OEM build quality. However, the units had less than ideal contrast for this application. The background would be slightly illuminated where the OEM version was nearly black. Tried to correct, but no success.

We felt that this would be unsatisfactory to some Audi/VW enthusiasts expecting nothing less than a perfect factory replacement. So we removed the rebuild service from the website until an exact replacement was available.

So we sought another avenue which allowed our rebuilds to use top of the line German manufactured components to offer OEM performance. We can now rebuild your cluster with a genuine VDO LCD... but now built with extended temp construction. All at a very fair price of $120.00 which includes full installation. This rebuild is available right now. If our LCD ever fails for the life of the car, we will replace it free. Parts, labor and shipping included. See it at our website.

Our new advertisement for this rebuild will be here at Audiworld shortly with our existing ABS service.
