Switch from mpg to l/100km
Hello,
I have a question in regards to the center display in the instrument cluster. Is it possible to change from mpg to l/100km (US to metric) without having vag-com? To change the temp from Fahrenheit to Celsius is written in the manual, that's what I did already, but unfortunately it didn't change all units to metric.
Also is there a procedure that the vehicle unlocks all doors with one press on the key fob instead of two?
Thank you guys!!
Jens
P.S. I wish you all a happy new year and a great 2010 without any wrinkles in the sheet metal

Dont know about the first question, the second is a safety feature so someone dosent jump in car while you are so if the driver is alone he can unlock only the driver door or all at once. i dont think its programable.
Happy new year to you and all the AudiWorlders also

AFAIK you will have to use VAG-COM and you can't just change just the MPG display from English to metric...you have to change the region (e.g. US, UK, etc.) which will affect the entire instrument cluster from the time/date display to the odometer.
I looked into this back right after I got the '02 A6 4.2 as I wanted to see if I could set the clock display to 24 hour mode without causing any other changes in the cluster's display. Based on my research at the time, the answer was no.
Also with VAG-COM you can recode the door unlocking mode to unlock all four doors plus the trunk (it won't actually pop open, though) with one press on the remote. You can even recode the car to open and close all of the windows plus close the sunroof from the remote just like if you put the key in the driver's door lock and hold it either CW or CCW.
