Default Taking the Aftermarket Head Unit Plunge...

Ok so Ive decided to replace my Stock Bose Symphony Head Unit with the Kenwood DNX7140 with built in Garmin Navi and Blutooth.

The current display is starting to lose lines in the LCD display.

My question to you guys...

Should I go through with it or should I just replace with another stock unit?

Anyone seen any C5's with a double din in dash kit?

I know the wiring is going to be a nightmare due to the multiple amps, but thank god for the pre-fabbed wiring harnesses.

Let me know what you think.

Go all or nothing. Install head unit, amps and speakers or just stay stock. A compromise will sound like a compromise.

Agree wholeheartedly. When I had my Zune adapter installed last winter, coincidentally the audio shop had an early 2000s MB CLK (one of the ones with the fiber optic audio setup) that some guy had done a Frankenstein on (new head unit only) and had ended up with blown amps and/or speakers IIRC. The tech said that it was the biggest cluster f**k he'd ever seen. Moral of the story: as he said to me, on these German cars you really want to either go all the way or just leave it.

I completely disagree. I just installed an Avic and I was happy with my Bose sound before. Let me tell you that my Bose system is now ALIVE. There are so many settings on my HU I could possibly overpower the Bose.

Very happy with aftermarket Avic!

I debated this for over a year. Instead I opted for aftermarket w/ touch screen, IPod interface, plays movies, bluetooth, plus more.
