They need to know what specific model tranny you have. Apparently, some of GIAC's Tip files aren't compatible with the new encrypters. For instance, my tranny requires the 156DR file from GIAC.

how are the giac chip for the ecu good? what am i expecting? and am i putting more wear and tear if i upgrading the chip?

internals are pretty good at handling the extra power. Just make sure to do the proper warm up/cool down and maintenance and you shouldn't have any problems.
