Default Is there an online parts locator?

Maybe a website or link.

I'm looking to find my steering rack for my '99 but I want to make sure that I order the correct part since there was a change in part #'s midway through the production line.(?)

Maybe somewhere that I can x-ref using my vin#.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default I show they changed at VIN 90000....

...with 90001 getting the newer style rack.

Old Rack is shown as:
4B1 422 052 B (or BX)

New Rack is shown as:
4B1 422 052 E (or EX)

That is for a ZF rack with servotronic. Always verfiy p/n's with a dealer.

Default I tried to verify with the dealer

however, my contact there was out sick today so I got this "old fart" that has given me wrong parts and wrong part #'s before.

I doubt everything he tells me but I was in a hurry to confirm the price and parts.

Good thing I posted here because of course...he gave me the wrong # again! He provided me with the later year even AFTER I gave him my vin#.

On top of that, while he supposedly put me on "hold" he starts b!tching to the other parts guys about my call saying, "Why do these dummies call us when they want to verify a part# they're going to order from another supplier?!" This a-hole is so dense that he forgot to press the "hold" button while he was saying all this...I had to bite my tongue because I know this is his typical service and thought to myself how many "extra hours" and "customer" dollars are wasted due to this jerk's inability and lack of aptitude.

Figures...this guy needs a "golden hand shake" bad.

Thanks for the post though!!!

That's bad. A parts guy who screws up part numbers. Valiant restraint on your end.
