the other end to complete the circuit, sure you might fool that part by hard wiring it for now, but the rest of the car might go bonkers from the "hey, how come im braking, but not really" part... and you don't wanna be jumping into park or reverse by mistake while you are cruising on the highway...

There's a harness connector that plugs into the selector that probably lights up the ghostbuster light.
Also, there's a physical cable that runs to the shifter from the ignition switch.
Just pressing the brake with the key in the on position should let you move the shifter?
I think with the battery disconnected, you can turn the key to the on position and you don't have to press the brake?
After writing this, I'm pretty sure I've missed the boat here. I gotta lay off the drugs. JK.
