Default Thermostat change on 2.8

I am about to change the thermostat on my 2.8q Now i know that i have to strip the car down at the front, but do i really need to change the timing belt? - reason being is that the cars belt was only changed 20k ago. + I dont really want to mess about with the timing, but feel confident enough to remove everything else.

I hope that I can change the thermostat at the point of when I would be removing the belt?? what do you think?

Default No, you don't really need to mess with it. But, did whoever changed the belt...

And DIDN'T change the thermostat while they were there.. Did they change the water pump and tensioner and idler pulleys?

If you dig in that far, it would be foolish not to reset the cam timing.
