Default A timing belt kit off ebay?

I'm trying to decide between ECS Tuning Ultimate Plus Timing Belt Kit and an Ebay auction in this post. These seem to be pretty comparable except for the hydraulic tensioner. If you've read my post about the grinding in my engine, the hydraulic tensioner has been suggested as the culprit so I really want this included. So basically I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience buying timing belt kits on Ebay? It's so cheap that I could buy the tensioner separately and still be far under the ECS cost, but I'm a little leery of buying such an essential component on Ebay.

Default For a TB buy Audi OE parts unless you are just doing it so you can sell it

I've had the el cheapo equivalents fail on me (from Blauparts and ECS)

Default That is cheap, but....

It seems that a lot of the "cheap" Audi/VW parts floating around the Internet auction sites are Chinese knock-offs or produced in China under contract. Not very confidence inspiring (and that's coming from someone who likes China and does a lot of business there...just don't buy your auto parts from there).

Cheers,

A very reputable seller (I've dealt with them for Volvo stuff), but I'd think twice about this one.

Default I would recommend that you ask who made & where these parts were made to verify...

that they are not the cheap Chinese knock-offs. If the parts are as they posted (e.g., SKF, Continental, etc.), then it might be a good deal. Also, since they list a 30-day money back guarantee, then the risk is minimal.

Default thats FCP Groton I believe

I have ordered all my volvo parts from them in the past. I have never once had a problem with there parts or quality. This is all assuming it is FCP Groton. Go to fcpgroton.com I know I have bought parts from this ebay seller in the past and liked the parts. So either way, I say go for it.

http://www.fcpgroton.com</a

Default skip unless you know the parts are OEM brand or better

In addition to what PureMS offers, VASTperformance sells a more complete kit that is DEFinitely quality stuff. A bit more $, yes, but the difference is negligible when you consider what can happen if one of these parts fails prematurely.
