feel her car is being neglected due to the Miata. You have the mental comfort of knowing the job has been done and is out of the way for another 2+ years.
I say: do it sometime this summer, while the weather is decent. Little downside, good upside.

Bad enough you have to do service position on the Audi...plus lock the cams, fit the belt, etc.
I would think a single DOHC L4 would be a walk in the park.

dollar value of the current car, but rather by the cost of what you'd replace it with if you suddenly needed to acquire a new(to you) vehicle becuase the engine on the A6 failed. This would undoubtedly be significantly higher than $2k.
