Default Tip chip question?

I was thinking about chipping the 2.7t, but have heard of people also buying a TCU chip. I hear this is the way to go, but I have also heard that you can change the shift points of your tip using VAG-com. Has anyone ever done this rather than buying a TCU chip? Is it even possible to change the shift points using VAG-com? If anyone has done this, how does it compare to buying a TCU chip?

Default Tip chip is different than TCU re-code...

The Tip chip inceases the speed of up and down shifts when in tip mode and increases hydro pressure to improve trans clamping force (meaning less clutch slipping). I've found the increased speed to be a significant improvement.

The TCU re-code (I'm using 00032) is supposed to raise the shift points and allows you to hold 1st until redline. I didn't notice the shift point change, but I do like the ability to hold 1st.

Default 00032 raises shift points in D-rive. For cars that have S-port mode, use 00022

to only effect the 1st gear holding until redline or upshift.

Now if my local installer would just get the replacement Tip Chip in...
