Tiptronic Shift Lag
OK, I'm full of questions today. I've done the TCU recode to 00032, etc. but not the Tip chip. Not to take business away from our good friends at GIAC, but it seems to me that if the ECU can now be chipped via the diagnostic port ala APR and RevoTeknik, shouldn't you be able to do the same with TCU? Or even better yet, has anyone tried totally different codes than the 01002, 01022, 01032, 00002, 00022, 00032 options to speed up the shifts?

I've tried different codes ...
But couldn't get anything to work other than what has been documented.
I "figured out" that my 98 A8 would accept 00011, which made it shift far superior to what I now have with my 2000 4.2 and 00032. Audi took a step back with the 2000+ in this area. Also, the inadvertant torque reduction signals that exist with the 2000+ really tick me off.
Just FYI, I've been waiting for GAIC to get my local GIAC dealer the 2000 4.2 chip code for over a month now. Fantastic customer support, the kicker is that the local ABT dealer has the code for the chip but can't sell it to me because GIAC was offended by the ABT relationship.
Regarding chipping through the diag port ... depends on the hardware platform, and that may be the barrier. The TCU and ECU communicate using the CAN-Bus standard, and can be on different Bosch "versions". In fact, they don't even have to be Bosch.
You could, conceivably, create your own TCU but that would require a lot of resources (and in saying that, please understand that I have access to chip readers).
