Tiptronic Vs Manual 6 speed
#3
I have driven both and i ordered a 6-speed.
I have heard that 10% of A6s are 6-speeds. If you do not have too much stop and go driving the 6-speed is great, alittle notchy, but good so far, 6300miles.

6 speed, all the way. At 25,000 mis is really smooth...... (More).....
I think it all boils down to what you personally prefer. Do you want automation, or do you want to be in charge? Also, 6 sp has a little more grunt. Like .5 sec 0-60mph. (If you launch well).

I wanted the 6 speed, my wife wanted the Tip, so....
...of course we ordered tha car with the Tip. The 6 speed is more fun, faster, and more fuel efficient but the decision has to be based on your own needs. The Tip is a decent automatic and the Tiptronic gate does allow you to do things like downshifting which, IMHO, is more important than making believe you're driving a stick. Just go with what you want.

My .02 is it depends on you and what you are after, the .....
6 speed is faster, and if you are ever going to the track you would want one, but since I'm a little older than most around here, (plus I doubt if my car will ever see the inside of a track, except of course the one that happens to be here in Indpls.) I went for the tip, and I'm very happy.

Very personal decision. I have tip, and would prefer 6 speed. (More.)
I like driving a stick, and the tip does NOT simulate a stick. Or course, my wife hates a stick, and her preferences are relevant to my decision.
6 speed is also quicker, and less likely to blow up if you upgrade the engine.
