Lost Art

'98 A6 Quattro - I reglued the long magnet after tiptronic would not engage; now it will engage the tiptronic, but won't hold any gear at any speed in tiptronic - it briefly engages the gear I select, and will hold that gear as long as I hold the shift lever back while downshifting (or forward when upshifting). As soon as I let go the shifter, it goes back to "D" on the display, and shifts to its choice of gears, even though the lever is in the tiptronic gate. Transmission works normally otherwise.

Sounds like the magnet is improperly placed or it shifted.
