Default Tire pirates...time for new tires

for the 03. I stopped at a local tire place where my family's bought many sets of tires. I say I need new tires just as an opener, and the guys proceeds to tell me what he has in stock--tires that Granny Gumms would put on her Skylark.

So he waddles to get "the book." I ask about Potenza RE950 (I saw a brochure laying out) and he quotes me 161/tire...728 mount, balance, tax. Tire Rack is 110. I ask him if they have a Hunter and he says "we have a machine that works great".....uh, huh. "We've had no problem with Audis."

The search continues. I'll call my dealer who was right on Tire Rack's pricing when I had a tire replaced. They're pretty expensive for a mount and balance, but it is done right and never a problem.

Pirates......

Default Avast, ye matey!

Just a point of reference for your tire shopping...

I buy from Tire Rack (good prices even with shipping to MA), and get them mounted and balanced (not road force) at an indy shop for $20 per wheel. If there are vibration issues, then off to find the Hunter.

Default Thanks BD.....

I did the same with my snow tires...but had my dealer put em' on. They have a Hunter GSP9000 and mount them perfectly. They don't beat up the wheels or scratch them.

Arrrrgh, <pirate voice>

Default How much does the dealer charge you for that?

I feel like I got hosed when they mounted my snows for me in the fall. I think they charged $130, but balanced on the Hunter.
