What are you guys running for tires? I'm getting ready to re-shoe the A6 Quattro. I'm leaning towards the Michelin Pilot Exalto AS or the General Altimax AP. Opinions?

Have these on my A6. High value Grand Touring A/S tire. UTQG 600 A A, ZR rated. I like em alot. I had Continental ContiProContact's b4 that wore quickly.

Tire Rack: What We'd Improve: Wet and dry traction
Ride Comfort 7.85
Conclusion: A comfortable touring tire for drivers who do not emphasize wet traction

Well what are you running for tires. I think I'm going to go with 205-55-16, Continental Extreme Contact. Any opinions there?

I almost got the ExremeContact but figured i did not need the snow capabilities if the tire beacuse im in S. Texas. Hardly rains here..But it has been raining the last few weeks here with slush and have no "stickion" problems to mention, in fact when condions got really nasty (rain, sleet, large puddles, heavy winds) the Kumho tires felt very capable and secure. The nose heavy A6 chews through tires and figure the ExtremeContacts wont last long.

I got the CEC's 3 years ago back when they were $80 a pop, and while they are getting to where I might need to repalce them soon, the price was definitely right. As user reviews on TR mention, they are a bit finicky about changing temps to the extent that they have to warm up a bit in really cold weather but this is not a mortal sin. Living in OH, I made the decision that although the snow capabilities were a little less than the Pilot Exalto A/S, on balance we really do not have many situations where we are actually driving on any amount of snow here, so the lower snow rating is probably a reasonable compromise at least here. FWIW I got them in 225/50/16. I would put these in the value category, which is to say that are pretty good tires on their own and again the price the right, not that they are merely cheap to buy.
